Business Project Manager

Almac Group is currently seeking a Business Project Manager (BPM) for our Durham, NC location. The role of the BPM is to own and drive projects from initiation through completion with the outcome resulting in on-time/on-budget delivery according to specifications.  While BPM's may manage a range of different project types the focus of this position is on engineering and facilities projects at our Durham, NC facility and project management experience in these areas is essential. 
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform the following while managing projects through successful completion:
  1. Project Initiation
    • Performs initial scoping/project organization
    • Develops high level plan and identifies resources
    • Identifies initial risks
    • Defines and establishes the team
    • Establishes team roles and accountabilities
    • Ensures Business Case is documented
    • Establishes the budget
    • Gains formal budget approval
  2. Project Planning
    • Creates a detailed project plan
    • Assigns tasks and targets
    • Drives requirements
    • Drives vendor process as required
    • Establishes communication plan
  3. Project Execution
    • Identifies risks as project progresses
    • Facilitates issue/conflict resolution and decision making
    • Manages project change and prepares for business readiness
    • Identifies and drives resolution of resourcing issues
    • Leads the team
    • Controls the project
    • Communicates per established communication plan
  4. Project Maintenance and Control
    • Identifies, manages, and mitigates risks as they surface
    • Follows all departmental and company processes/best practices
    • Monitors and maintains budget
  5. Project Close
    • Ensures project lessons are identified
    • Ensures closeout records in complete state
    • Ensures smooth transition to business and benefits review
  6. Takes on other supporting activities as dictated by the needs of the department and the business and is prepared to support travel as required based on project requirements.
 
Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • (3 years+) Significant experience in managing projects requiring detailed project planning, risk management. resource balancing, business case preparation
  • Use of Microsoft Office tool set (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in tailoring project communication (verbal and written) for stakeholders at all levels of an organization up to Executive level
  • Knowledge of effective communication methods used for project stakeholders at a senior or executive level
  • Waterfall and Iterative methodologies: methods, techniques, roles, tools
  • Business Analysis Methods
 
Preferred Experience / Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Life Science, Business, Math or IT discipline
  • Prince2/PMP Project Management Certification
  • Scrum Master Certification or Agile Certification
  • Experience of managing projects through a formal methodology
  • Experience in Almac systems, processes and procedures
  • Experience in leading a team in a GMP or regulated environment
  • Experience in having responsibility for direct interactions and communication with stakeholders
  • Performing Scrum Master role in an AGILE environment
  • Leading projects with participants in multiple global sites/3rd party resources
  • Pharmaceutical or clinical supplies industry experience or project management experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Almac’s internal business systems
  • Clinical Trials process knowledge
  • Development of Return on Investment
